A basic sourdough recipe requires just a few simple ingredients: flour, water and salt. But the magic happens when you add the sourdough starter! If you have the right tools, a bit of patience and some discipline, making a starter from scratch won’t be a difficult task.

The great thing about a sourdough starter is that it only needs to be developed once. After that, it will require a minimum amount of maintenance to be kept ‘alive’, but it’s absolutely worth the effort!

I enjoy every step of bread making, from kneading the dough to shaping. But by far my favourite part is the scoring—there is something so satisfying about it! And while I may often use the same bread recipe, I try to use different scoring designs as much as possible.
